Nobody thinks about a cure any more

for "mental illness" or "behaviour problems"
or common unacceptability.
We are all expected to make drug companies ever richer
by staying sick and swallowing their expensive products
till we die.

When such cures were thought up in the past that often meant the removal of the ill or odd person from the situation that made them seem odd/ill. What primitive medication there was was applied on a temporary or emergency basis. Now property and people are too valuable to be left/set aside to let them make their differences from other people work better for them than before, when they were defined as 'the problem'.
